Dear Brothers and Sisters, As-Salamu ‘Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
With Allah SWT’s Mercy and the duas of our community along with your enduring love and support, we are progressing towards aligning with the future vision of Masjid Bilal. From 1993, the humble beginnings of this Masjid, up to the formal completion of the construction of this great structure, and all the various phases in between, Allah SWT’s help, and your great support have helped us to reach this momentous occasion.
For the past few years, the Masjid has been focused on our future growth and expansion to keep in line with the growing Muslim population of Orleans and to fulfill the impending needs of our community members. With respect to future expansion and any intended purposes, it is important to note that we only have to the East of the Masjid to consider. There are only 5 residential homes facing Innes Rd parallel to the Masjid and as you know Alhumdulillah in 2019 and 2020 we have already acquired 2 of those 5 and successfully paid them off.
As announced at Jumah prayers on Friday, August 5th, once again, by the Grace and Mercy of Allah SWT, we have been able to successfully acquire the very first home that borders our Masjid’s fence on the East side.
This makes the total 3 out of 5 homes now. Alhumdulillah, the transaction went very smoothly, and the homeowners were a true pleasure to deal with. They were very flexible and understanding with respect to the closing of the property allowing us to take until mid-next year to get our funding aligned. This is indeed another sign of Allah SWT’s blessings. They came to us to offer the property. We have made a deposit to secure the deal and the remaining amount of $750,000, we will InshaAllah commence our fundraising efforts to pay this off also.
Each time that we have been presented with an opportunity to expand the footprint of Masjid Bilal, Alhumdulillah, we have done so in a very effective way. We have been thoughtful and purposeful in our purchase decisions and with the abundance of support from our community, we have been able to pay off our debts in such a way as to be in good financial standing.
InshaAllah, in the coming weeks, we will put together a strategy to help us along this journey and close the chapter of this additional property. Please continue to remember us in your duas and we thank you for your love and support to Masjid Bilal along this path. We are collectively creating a legacy that will InshaAllah last for generations to come.
