The Islamic Society of Cumberland (Masjid Bilal) is a Registered Charitable community-oriented Muslim organization located in Canada’s Capital (Ottawa East, Orleans). Masjid Bilal which was established in 1993 to provide the Muslim community of Orleans with resources to meet religious and social needs with the objective of establishing a better relationship with the larger Canadian society.

Urgent: Your Masjid Still Needs Your Help!
Masjid Bilal is open for the Fajr, Isha & Jumu’ah prayers only with the following protocols as recommended by Ottawa Public Health:
- Registration is required for participating in the congregational prayers to maintain contact tracing requirements.
- Onsite registration will be done for the Fajr and Isha prayers.
- Arrive early for check-in as the doors will close 5 minutes before Iqamah.
- For attending the Friday prayers registration must be completed online through the Masjid Bilal website. Registration for Friday prayers will open every Wednesday after 8 PM.
- Due to the City of Ottawa still being under a state of emergency owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fajr & Isha prayers are only open to brothers for now. However, sisters are more than welcome to join the Friday prayers.
- Children under the age of 15 are not allowed at this time.
- We highly respect the seniors of our community however because they are at a greater risk to contract the virus, we encourage them (65 +) and those with pre-existing medical conditions to continue to perform their prayers at home.
- Please come prepared with wudu etc. before coming to the masjid as the masjid restroom facilities are still closed.
- A face mask is required at all times when in the masjid.

Background
Furthermore, due to the mercy of Allah and the support of the Ottawa/Gatineau Muslim COmmunity, Masjid Bilal and its adjacent parking lot is fully complete and paid for without any outstanding debts!
Now we are planning for the future as the Muslim Community is growing it is imperative that we must increase our resources to accomodate future needs.
Just recently (in Sept 2029) Allah provided Masjid Bilal With a possibility of future growth by facilitating an oppurtunity to secure and purchase 2 properties East of the Masjid; the only possible direction to expandin. Alhamdulillah the timing could not have been better than this!
The Appeal
The 1st property (4541) has been purchased by way of loans (qard hasan – interest free) of $600,00 from members of the community and local Muslim organizations wich needs to be repayedvery soon.
The 2nd property (4535) has been secured with deposit of $ 50;000.
This property will be acquired in Aug/Sept 2020 for $ 700,000
Masjid Bilal has 1 year to raise funds for this property (4535).

Masjid Bilal has become a destination of choice not only for the Muslims of Orleans but also for the wider community of Ottawa East.
